A native of Erwin, NC (where Fr. Ray Hanna is currently serving as Interim) I attended UNC Chapel Hill and graduated with a major in chemistry, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
In 1977 I moved to Philadelphia to attend Pennsylvania College of Optometry. While there I had two summer internships with the FDA on the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD, doing vaccine testing. Fell in love with the DC area and decided to make it my home.
I established my optometric practice in November, 1984 in the Clarendon section of Arlington County. I attended the Church of Saint Clement in Alexandria, VA . Served two Vestry terms, was Treasurer for three years and was a member of the choir.
I retired in January 2019 and decided to settle in Wilmington, with its low country vibe, a strong arts scene and its proximity to a family beach home at Holden Beach. The music and welcome at St. Paul’s captivated me. I’m serving on the membership committee and as an usher. I’ve realized my retirement dream of spending December thru March in Fort Lauderdale. There I attend All Saints Episcopal Church. I’m excited to see the growth occurring at St. Paul’s and I’m so grateful I found this parish.
