- 1 cake/package of yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 Tbsp caraway seeds
- 2 1/2 cups sifted flour, about
In a large bowl, spinkle yeast into warm water; stir until dissolved. Stir in next 5 ingredients and half of the flour. Mix until well blended. Stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead for 10 minutes or until satiny. Place in a greased bowl. Cover with waxed paper and a damp teatowel. Let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Punch down. Cover and let rise until almost doubled, about 30 minutes. Divide dough in half. Shape each piece into a 12 inch roll. Twist the two rolls together. Seal ends. Place on a baking sheet. Brush with melted butter. Cover. Let rise until almost doubled, about 1 hour. Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Brush with butter.
