Bill and Elaine met while working for a U.S. Congressman who was running for the U.S. Senate in 1972. They had three children by 1984 and seven grandchildren by 2019.
They moved to Wilmington in 1992 for Bill to become vice chancellor of development at UNCW. A few years later, he left the university to open a wealth management firm, in which he continues to work. Elaine is a retired art teacher who continues to paint when time permits. Their passions are their children, grandchildren, travel and St. Paul’s.
Bill, raised a Catholic and Elaine, a Greek Orthodox, realized that they were not “seeing eye-to-eye” with these religions and sought out a more suitable one. The Episcopal Church seemed to satisfy their needs. After trying out the many churches in Wilmington, they chose St. Paul’s. The warmth of its people, the beauty of the facility and the service convinced them that this was “home.” And it’s only gotten better over the years. The incomparable music and Fr. Caleb’s voice and vision for St. Paul’s have made it an even more appealing place!
Elaine has served on the hospitality, bereavement, the Source and the Wednesday lunch committees. Bill has served as senior warden (rector’s warden) three times.
