I moved to Wilmington 4 years ago after living in Fayetteville for many years.
I started looking for an Episcopal church to attend right away by perusing the websites of all the possible candidates thinking that I would check out many of the churches before making a selection. My first choice was St. Paul’s and so one Sunday in November, I attended my first service here.
I was surprised but very pleased to receive such a warm welcome. I loved the worship space, the music and the liturgy. I was also especially touched that Dena called me by my first name while giving me communion. I came back again the next Sunday and the next and never did try out those other churches because I felt like I had found my new church home.
I am currently finishing up my third year on the vestry and have also been a member of The #1 Facilities Committee. It has been an honor to have been part of the process of reimagining St. Paul’s spaces.
I am a speech pathologist who works with preschoolers at a private clinic in Burgaw. I love to help kids get language going. Also, and most importantly, I have just become the mom of a little Havapoo named Finley, hence the picture.
