Rick and Teresa Sorrenti

Rick and Teresa moved to Wilmington in 2012, after having a vacation house here since 2007. Teresa grew up outside Detroit as a Catholic (12 years of Catholic school), went to Michigan State, and moved to the Washington DC area. Rick grew up in Columbia SC as a Catholic, and joined the Air Force after high school. After serving 3 tours in Viet Nam as a pararescue, he decided to go back to school, become an engineer and make the Air Force a career.

When Rick was assigned to the Pentagon in 1989, they met through a mutual friend and were married a year later in All Saints Episcopal Church in Woodbridge Virginia. (Rick became Episcopalian while stationed in England, and Teresa converted after drifting away from the Catholic Church). While at All Saints they were in choir and vestry, but when All Saints started to withdraw from the diocese, they “church hopped” until moving to Wilmington.

Teresa retired from General Services Administration after 37 years working on cross-agency procurement and supply systems. She was also active in developing national standards with industry for supply transactions, including work with the United Nations standardization committee in Geneva. After a 23-year career in the Air Force, Rick retired and joined Booz Allen Hamilton, serving as a consultant to the Air Force in the support of the Presidential fleet, including Air Force One. He retired as a Vice President in 2013 after 22 years with the company.

Rick has a daughter Jillian who lives in Spartanburg, SC, with her wife Tracey who recently had a kidney transplant (thanks to all the prayers from St Paul’s!). They spend time every year with Teresa’s brothers/niece/nephews in Michigan, and Rick’s brother in South Carolina.

After nearly 30 years of boating, they have transitioned to a “land yacht” and have taken their RV west to Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and points in between, as well as through the Maritime provinces of Canada and all the states along the coast from New England to NC. They also spend winters in Punta Gorda FL near Rick’s cousin, so you may not see them very often at St Paul’s, but they attend on-line religiously!
