Jerry and Sally Fisher are flattered that St. Paul’s asked us to share some information about us. After living for 25 years in Wake Forest, we moved to Wilmington last summer and in September, we moved into our new home at Trinity Landing. We have five children, two of whom live in Wilmington, and the other three are in Florida/Malaysia, Switzerland, and Raleigh. We have fifteen grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 23.
Jerry attended Virginia Theological Seminary and was ordained in Cleveland, Ohio in 1978. He has served in parishes in Gates Mills, Ohio, Philadelphia, PA and all over North Carolina including Hillsborough, Erwin, Goldsboro, Wilson, Southern Pines, Winston-Salem and Tarboro. The longest pastorate was at St. John’s, Wake Forest, where he was rector for 16 years. Jerry loves working with tools and sailing.
Sally worked as a computer programmer analyst at Ohio State, the US House of Representatives, and UNC-TV. After she retired from the state of North Carolina, she continued working with non-profit development software at Blackbaud offering technical support for PBS stations across the country and other clients such as St. Jude’s Hospital, American Red Cross, and Habitat for Humanity. Sally has been a Companion in the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross since 1982. She currently provides technical and procedural support to the Companions and their retreat center, Adelynrood. Sally loves music and dancing, particularly Zumba.
We have been warmly welcomed by St. Paul’s since our first visit last July—we were hooked from the beginning. We particularly like the excellent sermons, the music and the attention to social justice issues. We ask for your patience and prayers as we discern what we will do next while we adjust to the many big changes in this latest phase of our lives.
