Good Shepherd

May 5, 2022 | Clergy Corner

Good Shepherd Sunday: This Sunday is traditionally known as Good Shepherd Sunday.  It is fitting that sometimes Mother’s Day falls on Good Shepherd Sunday as we give thanks for all of the motherly figures who have been shepherds and guides to us over the years.  I am also reminded that, as God in Christ is the Good Shepherd, so too does Jesus desire to draw all God’s children together as a mother hen gathers her brood under her wings (Luke 13: 34b).  This Sunday we remember all of our physical and spiritual mothers.

Good Shepherd Center
It has become the custom in many Wilmington Episcopal churches to designate this Sunday as an opportunity to support and promote awareness of the Good Shepherd Center in Wilmington.  This year we welcome Former Director Katrina Knight to our adult formation hour to hear about the current work happening at the Good Shepherd Center.  Although Good Shepherd Center is a part of our Community Ministries budget, it is, nevertheless, always appreciated when organizations receive over and beyond the amount annually pledged by individuals and organizations. Generosity begets generosity!  This includes giving at St. Paul’s!

If you would like to make a special gift to Good Shepherd over and above your gift to St. Paul’s please do so by making a check payable to St. Paul’s with Good Shepherd in the memo line.
Helping to Shepherd our Community
We remember, also, the many organizations supported throughout the year by our annual budget.  I give thanks for the way in which you, through your annual giving, have supported St. Paul’s involvement in Community Ministries.  Your generosity supports the following organizations:
Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard
Nourish NC- Backpack Buddies
Snipes Academy
Help Hub
Good Shepherd
2Share
V.O.Y.A.G.E.
Episcopal Farm Workers
Dreams of Wilmington
Rise Against Hunger
Habitat for Humanity
Spartan’s Basketball Association
Episcopal Navaho Land
Family Promise
Communities in Schools
St. Paul’s Blessing Box
Angel Tree
Northside Food Co-op
I give thanks for the generosity of the St. Paul’s community.  Thank you for your faithfulness and all the ways in which we at St. Paul’s reflect God who is the Good Shepherd.

With Gratitude,

Caleb +
