Hello St. Paul’s!
We are Al and Tori Cannon. We joined St. Paul’s in February 2019 soon after arriving in Wilmington. We visited two other Episcopal churches before St. Paul’s, but it was the warm welcome that allowed us to feel an immediate connection.
Our hometown is Kansas City. But our hearts have been in the Southeast since our daughters married and moved to this part of the country.
So, after we both retired, we packed up our dog and our favorite things accumulated through 45 years of marriage (we are sure some of you can relate!) and headed to this wonderful town to be near our two daughters, sons-in-law and five grandchildren! We pick up three of those grandchildren after school every day.
We are anxious to become more familiar with Wilmington, having been delayed due to the pandemic. Al has managed to find several pickleball courts to feed his passion! Tori loves reading and cooking new recipes. We both love gardening and baking together: apple pie is our signature specialty!
Currently we serve on the Purple Hospitality Team and also the Usher Team. We were members of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Mission, Kansas, since our children were young. Interestingly, as our departure from St. Michael’s was announced, a parishioner approved us to say that a church in our future city was “renowned” for their extraordinary music program … turns out she was referring to St. Paul’s!
Lastly, please pardon us, as long-time season ticket holders, for admitting that we still miss our beloved Chiefs and Royals!
