I grew up in Dalton, Georgia, but moved to Wilmington in 1982. I was a member of St. Andrew’s-on-the-Sound for 30 years, where I was a participant and served as a small group leader in the DOCC program for several years. I also served on the vestry for 4 years. While serving on the vestry, we hired Richard Rhoads as the music director. We became fast friends. When Richard retired from St. Andrew’s and accepted a part-time position at St. Paul’s, he encouraged me to come for a visit. I instantly felt the love of St. Paul’s family.
Within a few months, I made St. Paul’s my family too. I am so glad I made the move. I have met so many wonderful friends here. I am presently serving on the Usher’s team at St. Paul’s.
Before retiring, I was a real estate agent for 30+ years in the Wilmington area. I have 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren.
Since retiring, I have spent my time volunteering at Airlie Gardens, Bellamy Mansion, Thalian Hall and the Wilson Center. I am past president and an active member of PEO (a philanthropic organization supporting education for women). When not volunteering, I enjoy playing bridge, reading, going to the movies, eating out and traveling the world. My next adventure is pursuing the Northern lights in Norway and Iceland next month.
