Because of your generosity St. Paul’s Community Ministry team has continued to ensure support of our community partners throughout this pandemic. We have provided grant funding to the Good Shepherd Center, Episcopal Farmworker’s Ministry, and others. We’ve also donated the funds needed for our Rise Against Hunger food packing event to Rise so they are able to meet needs around the world. The needs are many but we are grateful to be able to respond to those that we can through the abundance God has given us.
Supporting Snipes: As schools begin to reopen here in New Hanover County there are tremendous strains on teachers and students in this unusual academic year. We within Community Ministry wanted to extend support to Snipes Academy as St. Paul’s has built a relationship with them over the years. It is with joy and grateful hearts that we gifted 12 Target gift cards for teachers and staff at Snipes to say thank you for their dedication. We also want to bring a little joy to students as well. That is why we are inviting you to provide snacks for students at Snipes. These snacks will be used to reward engagement while learning from home and in the classroom. If you would like to provide snacks we ask that these be pre-packaged, individual serving size snacks and treats. Please no Peanuts or Peanut Butter. Snacks will be collected at the home of Jan Trivett for those living in New Hanover County and for those living in Brunswick County, snacks may be dropped off at the home of Steve Bucci; contact information may be found in our directory. The church will also accept donations during office hours Monday through Friday. Collection will end Friday October 16.
2Share: For those that would like a more hands on volunteer opportunity with a small group, I will be volunteering with 2Share on Saturday the 10th. We will be picking up furniture donations as well as getting donations into homes of those who move into affordable or public housing and are in need of furniture necessities. If you are interested in volunteering with this group either this Saturday or another time please email me: asst-rector@specurch.com
Strategic Plan: One final note: Please join us on ZOOM Sundays through November 1st at 9:15 to discuss St. Paul’s Strategic Plan and get your questions answered.
In Person Worship: And one final, final note. This Sunday will be our first Sunday with in person worship. If you would like to worship in person please register on our website as space is very limited. We are taking great precaution to keep everyone safe and I personally wish to thank our ushers for their desire to ensure all follow proper safety protocols.
God’s Peace,
Adam
