Our Leadership

St. Paul’s clergy, staff and vestry comprise our leadership. An organizational chart that shows our internal structure, is here.

The vestry meets the second Monday of the month in Meeting Room A. Meetings are open to the parish. Minutes may be found here.

The Rev. Caleb J. Lee

The Rev. Caleb J. Lee’s  ministry at St. Paul’s began Aug. 1, 2021.

“I am fascinated by your rich and diverse history,” he says. “In particular, I am inspired by the last decade of your common life, where it seems you have grown into something new. I am drawn to your fine liturgy and music and look forward to building upon the solid foundation that has been laid. Speaking of building, I am ready to discern with you about the future of your building as well as seek new opportunities for formation of all ages and outreach to the community.”

He came to us from Grace Church Cathedral in Charleston, S.C., where he served as Canon Precentor and was President of the Standing Committee of the Diocese of South Carolina. Before his work in South Carolina, Caleb served as a Priest Associate at St. Paul’s in Beaufort, N.C.

The Rev. Catherine Powell

Priest Associate

Beginning in December, the Rev. Catherine Powell will serve St. Paul’s as priest associate.  “I am so glad to be joining you as Priest Associate!” says Rev. Powell. “I’ve already been welcomed and helped by many of you as I found my way around the chancel and Sunday school rooms. I’ve been blessed by the beautiful music and liturgy, by the children, and by happy reconnection with my colleague Caleb Lee. I’m looking forward to assisting him and being even more a part of St. Paul’s.”

On Sundays and services during the week, Rev. Powell will share in the responsibilities of preaching and presiding, and  will instruct the older children’s Sunday school class.  She will communicate with adults and parents from time to time about the spirituality of children and serve as a pastoral presence to the parish if Rev. Lee is out of town or unavailable.

Rev. Powell has served as a parish priest in Washington, DC, Massachusetts, and North Carolina, including Church of the Servant in Wilmington. She also was chaplain to the National Cathedral School. A mother of two, Rev. Powell grew up in Fayetteville. She was one of the first female priests in the Episcopal Church when she was ordained in 1980.

The Rev. Richard Banks

Honorary Priest Associate

“To be a fellow sojourner in a community of faith,” is how the Rev. Richard Banks, priest associate, defines the purpose of his ministry. “Most people regard priests as ‘finished products’ but we clergy know that we continue to grow in knowledge and faith through the weekly cycle of prayer, preparation for worship including preaching, and translating faith into works as we seek to minister to those in need.”
