The Rev. Stephen Mazingo will be the guest preacher at the Sunday, Oct. 9 10:30 a.m. service.
Rev. Mazingo has been a priest for 15 years. He was ordained in the Diocese of East Carolina with St. Mary’s, Kinston as his sponsoring parish. After graduating from Virginia Theological Seminary Rev. Mazingo was a missionary with the Young Adult Service Corps in South Africa. When he returned to the United States he served as senior associate at St. James, Wilmington, and rector of St. Peter’s Parish in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
In 2020 Rev. Mazingo took a call as interim rector of St. Philip’s, Durham and returned to North Carolina. He is married to his wife of 10 years, Abigail. He has a young daughter, Emma, in early elementary school and a son Gus who is 9 months old. Rev. Mazingo currently is working on a master’s degree in history (online, through UNC Wilmington), and is a part time associate at St. John’s, Wake Forest with the children and family ministry.
