Christian Adult Formation: Summer 2021
July 18 @ 8:55 am - 10:00 am
An event every week that begins at 8:55 am on Sunday, repeating until August 1, 2021
HOLY READING: Personally accessing the guidance, strength, hope and comfort of the Scriptures!
As Episcopalians, we pray, “Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning; Grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and comfort of thy holy Word, we may embrace, and ever hold fast, the blessed hope of everlasting life, which thou hast given us in our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.”
The Catechism tells us that the Holy Scriptures show God at work in nature and history, Jesus proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom of God for all people, and affirming that, through the Holy Spirit, God still speaks to us through the Bible TODAY.
July 18, 25, and August 1, Joe Farri will lead the Sunday Adult Formation Conversation to introduce us to – or refresh us in – the practice of Lectio Divina. Lectio Divina is an especially meaningful way to access and incorporate the lessons of the scriptures – our treasury of guidance, strength, hope, and comfort.
Joe’s conversations will be based on a sermon by Brother Curtis Almquist, a member of and former presiding officer of the Society of St. John the Baptist (SSJE). The sermon can be found at https://spechurch.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Almquist-Homily.pdf.
Join us via ZOOM each Sunday for this three-part conversation that can bring you closer to God through your reading of the Scriptures!
