A Simple Space for Prayer and Reflection

Apr 6, 2020 | Sacred Spaces

I must admit that I was reluctant to participate in this.  It wasn’t so much that I didn’t want to, but it’s because of our home’s open floor plan. I’ve struggled to find a space with which I can center myself without feeling caged in or easily distracted.

My favorite area in our townhouse is the sun room that overlooks our yard.  Taking a “snack table” (remember those?) that I almost gave away, I found it to be the perfect height to accommodate my laptop from which I tune into the Daily Office of the Mission of Saint Clare. I use that in combination with the readings posted on our website.  I told Ron I was going to pray and reflect.

So, I turned on the outdoor fountain, visible from my new “spot,” turned on my computer, popped in my earbuds, and began.  It was a lovely experience that I plan to recreate during Holy Week and more frequently thereafter. Although simple, I love my new sacred space.
